Ok, so it has been a while. I’m busy building, or rather, attempting to build a Linux based hardware synthesizer. Just for fun and pleasure. You can read more in the article section. I’m working on an article about resampling. It’s taking a lot longer than expected so be prepared to wait <grin>! In the mean time, check out this paper on interpolation. Okay. I’ve got my system up-and-running in my new house! Expect to see some updates soon! Hurray. I am in the process of moving house. Due to lack of time I will probably not update the website until December. I released the source code for MINIFMOD with the reverb. The reverb is written in C for readability. It hasn’t been optimized so it should be easy to figure out what is happening. Steal it, misuse it, mangle it... it’s yours for the taking. The new Code::Blocks editor (1.0 rc2) is out. The update features many bug fixes, new syntax highlighting files, extra project templates for 3D systems and much more. Good work from the Code::Blocks team! I added reverb code to MINIFMOD. Listen to my example player. I added a tiny article on waveshaping to the website. Also, keep an eye out for the new Pain magazine. It will be coming out soon! The people over at B-Lex did a good job of making WebHare Lite. I use it to make this site. I just type the content in Word, drag it into WebHare Lite and it publishes the content to my website at the push of a button. It has fully customizable site templates and various gadgets such as a photo album. Why fiddle with FrontPage, or PHP? I have little time for site maintenance so I’d rather spend what time I have in updating the content instead of scripting stuff! Today I had the most weird compiler problem with the VC Toolkit 2003 compiler. My relatively simple program went into an endless loop taking 100% CPU. The strange this was that after commenting out parts of the code, it still exhibited the problem. Even now I don’t know what the problem is. So, at least for me, it’s back to Visual Studio. The Code::Blocks editor is great though! Especially considering it’s still in at v1.0.. The Code::Blocks IDE seems workable although it lacks a decent debugger for VC Toolkit 2003. Microsoft has a free debugger available, but it doesn’t integrate with Code::Blocks :( I installed the VC Toolkit 2003 today. The main difference with Visual Studio is the lack of an IDE and that it has no support for anything other van C/C++. But, it’s free! I’m also checking out the Code::Blocks IDE / editor which is open-source! According to the Wiki it should work with the VC Toolkit. There is even a video to show you how to configure the editor. Hopefully this will be an IDE worth keeping. Most of my experiences with open-source IDEs are bad. Of course, you’re going to send me email saying your IDE is much better than Code::Blocks… ps. if you’re going to try this too, you’ll need the MS Platform SDK and possibly the Direct X SDK. |
