Toen in 1995 het American Football in Nederland werd geintroduceerd, kon niemand vermoeden dat het maar dertien jaar zou duren. De auteur beschrijft deze periode intensief en laat goed zien waar de problemen zaten. Met name het cultuurverschil tussen de Amerikaanse beleidsmakers en de Nederlandse uitvoerders speelde een grote rol. Verder bleek het moeilijk een sport, waar entertainment belangrijker leek dan het spel, leven in te blazen. Daarnaast werd de Europese League beschouwd als kweekvijver voor Amerikaanse talenten en kregen Nederlanders nauwelijks een kans, wat onder andere geringere mediabelangstelling tot gevolg had. Daardoor waren ook sponsors weer nauwelijks geinteresseerd. Doordat de competitie later bijna uitsluitend uit Duitse teams bestond, was het internationale imago ook slecht en zat succes op termijn er voor de Amerikaanse zakenmensen niet in. Een positief punt is in ieder geval dat de Admirals trendsetters zijn geweest met betrekking tot het zich inzetten voor liefdadigheid. Met enkele kleurenfoto's en verklarende woordenlijst.
