Three Hatch Picture Frame

 

 

For this example I used a winterlandscape.

 

The pictures I used for this lesson are from BeverlyLu.

She gave me permission to use them in my tutorials.

What you need for this tutorial:

A pretty picture of a landscape or seascape.

Flammed wood

unzip this bmp in your Pattern folder of PSP.

Window selection

unzip this selection in you selection folder of PSP.

1.   Open a new image 800 x 500, transparent.

 

2.   Selections > load from disk > Window.sel.

 

3.   Set you foregroundcolor on pattern and search for your gevlamd hout (flammed wood)

Floodfill your selection with the pattern.

 

4.   Effects > 3D effects > innerbevel:

 

5. Selections > select none.

 

6.   Take your magicwand and leftclick in the left window,

push your shift-button and keep it pushed. Leftclick now in the other windows.

Now you have selected the innersite of the windows.

 

7.  Selections > modify > expand by 1.

 

8.   Selections > invert.

 

9.   Effects > 3D effects > dropshadow:

 

10.   Repeat step 9 with Horzontal and Vertical -2.

 

11.   Selections > invert.

 

12.   Layers > new rasterlayer.

Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom.

 

13.   Open the picture you want to use and edit > copy. 

 

14.   Activate your window-image and Edit > paste > into selection.

 

15.   Effects > sharpen > sharpen more.

 

16.   Selections > select none.

 

17.   Take your crop tool and select your windows  like this example:

 

18.   Go to you Tool options and click on Crop Image, now everything outside the selection will be erased.

 

19.   Layers > merge > merge all visible layers.

 

20.   Effects > 3D effects > dropshadow see step 9 and 10.

 

Your picture frame now is finished, if you want the background and the frame continue the tutorial !!!

 

21.   Layers > new rasterlayer.

Layers > arrange > Send to bottom.

 

22.  Floodfill the new layer with a color of your choice.

I used #D9BD9F.

 

23.   Effects > Texture effects > Texture:

 

24.   Layers > merge > merge all visible layers.

 

25.   Set your backgroundcolor on a color that is not in you pichture.

 

26.   Image > Add borders > symmetric 15.

 

27.   Take your magicwand and select the added border, 

floodfill it with the gevlamde hout pattern (flammed wood)

 

28.   Repeat the innerbevel of step 4.

 

29.   Repeat step 9 and 10 for the dropshadow.

 

30.   Selections > select none.

 

For this example I used a seascape from BeverlyLu and 

used a different texture for the background.
