Each child is a unique person with an individual personality, learning style and family
background. We use children’s knowledge, individual strengths and interests, to plan
our developmentally appropriate learning environment. Experiences through play are
provided to help develop the social, emotional, cognitive and physical aspects of the
child. All activities are designed to develop the children’s self esteem and positive
feelings toward learning.
Social and emotional development
A great deal of learning takes place in a quality program. Our nursery playgroup
provides an environment rich with tools for discovery and interactions with other
children. This creates a strong foundation for further learning.
Cognition and general knowledge
At our nursery playgroup children have opportunities to interact with people,
materials and to learn from their surroundings. With skilled and appropriate adult
interaction, children learn to construct knowledge of patterns and relations, cause
and effect, and ways of solving problems in everyday life.
Language development
Social interactions among children of varying ages and stages of development
encourage early literacy skills. At our nursery playgroup children will get the
opportunities to hold conversations with other children and adults, listen to
read-aloud books and share family stories to promote literacy. Singing and
dancing introduce other forms of literacy, as well as melody and of course fun.
