INTRODUCTION
As I have shifted my attention to my heart and its role in the energetic interchange with someone else I have come to realize that there are different ways to approach the way people might exchange energy with someone they want to connect with. This page describes two of these approaches that I have encountered.
BLESSINGS
The approach that I have come to adopt in my reality system is the one that is described by the SSoA in one of the Earth Mother II-articles. In Everyday Blessings we can read:
Unfortunately and in human form there are many nonphysical entities that take take and take whatever they can grasp. Therefore blessings between humans are more complex and require some boundaries on the part of those directing the love of soul unto others; lest one find oneself so depleted there is not enough chi to continue to ascend. This is simply because there is no agreement in human form to retain balanced giving and receiving that this is so. However in the new consensus for ascension and amongst ascending humans, there are such agreements in place, and in so doing there can be a shared giving and receiving of love offered through the blessings flowing from one’s soul unto another and back unto oneself again. And this is a most beautiful experience and is known as divine union in action.

It seems to make sense to me to expand 'blessing' to 'exchanging energy'. In that case it would also appear to be 'natural' when 'divine union in action' would take place between people who would want to connect harmlessly together. In other words only when there is a flow of energy between two people can you speak of a heart-connection: one reaching out, the other returning or vica versa. It would not be a one-way street.
GIVING LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY
There is however another approach to heart energetics that is far more popular, namely the 'unconditional giving of love' to someone else. The ones who adopt this second approach in their reality perspective think that the giving of love to someone or something else should be done without expecting anything in return.
How can you truly love someone if you expect something back? True love is about giving unconditionally and preferably to as many people as possible.
COMPARING THE TWO APPROACHES
What happens if a person who has constructed a reality perspective with the first 'balanced giving and receiving'-approach meets someone else who has the 'unconditional love' idea in their perspective? Would that cause any problems?
Not if the unconditional giver can easily give and receive energy: she gives it and the one receiving it thinks it is natural to return it and to enjoy the exchange. There could however be a problem if the 'balanced giver' notices that he gives energy without receiving anything in return. For him this would imply that there is something awry in the energy exchange, for her it would only be natural to give and not necessarilly receive anything in return.
FOUR CONDITIONS IN HEART-TO-HEART ENERGETICS
For now I prefer to hold on the first 'balanced giving and receiving'-approach as the most natural mode of exchanging energy. The advantage of this approach is that you can actually feel when there is a sound exchange of energy amongst two people for you feel the flow of giving and receiving.
I guess that in order to have this energetic heart flow between people you need to meet four conditions: the hearts of two people need to be able to give energy and to receive energy. This however is not as simple as it seems. I have come to understand that there are many inhabiting factors that prevent this flow from occurring.
You can probably think of some of these factors yourself. Some people have learnt to only receive as much energy as possible without giving anything in return. Others have acquired the ability to give a lot of energy to others without thinking themselves worthy enough to receive. Some have learnt to only give energy to themselves, not knowing how to give it to others. Others have learnt that to give energy to someone else only results in feeling empty afterwards and have therefore concluded not to give anything to anyone anymore. Others have received so much pain through their heart region that they have decided not to want to receive anything anymore.
CONCLUSION
I have described two approaches to energetic exchange between two people who want to connect harmlessly: the balanced giving and receiving one and the unconditional energy giving one. It might be a wise idea to see which approach suits you best since it can determine what your experience can maximally become. I have touched upon various ways that might hamper the process of free energy flow between two hearts.
In my experience the intent to connect harmlessly with someone else activates everything that is needed to remove the obstacles for a free flow of harmless energy, although it can take some time. I have found it quite useful to try and talk to your heart and ask her a lot of questions and then to sit and listen silently and patiently. I truly believe it is the heart's desire to open up and renew a contact with the translating center that is your consciousness.
