Bold aviators

At the closing of 2001 we ran into a Grasshopper stationed at Kleve/Wisseler Dünen (GER). Because of the lack of storing facilities, the owner wanted to get rid of the plane. In order to come to a sufficient sindicate size, we gathered some friends and two weeks later the wings and tailplane were picked up in Wissel on an open Ka-7 trailer. The weekend thereafter we made the same trip, but this time with the fuselage and the supplements. Some weeks later the first flights were made by autotow atthe Lemelerveld glidersite. Eversince, some people got seriously addicted to flying this machine!

S.O.S.

The Grasshopper isn't the only Slingsby glider flying around at Lemelerveld. At the moment, the privately owned fleet consists of three Slingsby gliders: the T.30 Prefect (PH-196), the T.38 Grasshopper (WZ795) and the T.34 Sky (PH-203). This oldtimer fleet is such fun, that a considerable group of 'friends-of' has grown around it: the S.O.S.

Besides the owners of the planes, several 'groupies' help to foster the planes or to keep them from sitting on the ground. It is not unlikely that, in the future, the S.O.S. fleet will grow further. There is a very strong wish to aquire a T.21 Sedbergh. At the moment however, the main priority is to get both the Grasshopper and the Sky in an airworthy state.
