The scene of the exploding mine of 3 December and the waiting or knocked out kangaroo is a shot near the location of the lost kangaroos. On the photo of the 22th march 1945 is a large crater seen close to the road. the black thing southwest of it could be a Kangaroo, maybe the same as on the picture with the exploding mine. This could be one of the kangaroos stranded in Blerick. The assumption is that this is the most right one of the two stranded kangaroos. The black spot is possibly a vehicle because nothing is seen on this spot in the photo of 15 October 1944. South of the Rutten farm on the photo of 22 march 1945 are some elements not seen on the photo of 15 October 1944. The Flail tank and the other unknown tank of driver L/Corporal A.J.Booth behind the farm of Rutten are possibly already moved or removed. During heavy shelling and through a minefield L/Corporal A.J.Booth brought his commander and wounded gunner into safety into the nearest farmhouse. He received his "Commander in Chief" Gallantry Certificate for this action.
The mystery of the two lost Kangaroos during the Blerick attack....
On the left picture an oblique scene from the 2nd of March 1945. A low flying RAF-plane has taken this remarkable shot. It shows the outskirts of Blerick with the ruïned Lambertus church on the rightside On the spot of the black object from the other picture an object can be seen which can be one of the mined Kangaroos. This spot is known as the former wastebelt of Blerick at the Boekenderweg and according to recorded literature the place where a Kangaroo had stranded while the crew remained inside.
