A letter from the CO of The Royal Scots to the Squadron Leader of A Squadron 49th RTR.

6th December 1944

Dear Hunt,
I am sorry I did not see you before you left this area, after Sunday's battle, to thank you very much indeed for the hard work you and your whole Squadron did for us.
I would like you to know that the opinion of all the Battalion- Officers and Other ranks- isquite unanimous in its praise not only of the Kangaroos but also their crews.
From our point of view the whole operation was most successful, and a large measure of this success was due to the wholehearted cooperation and assistance given to us by yourself, your Troop Commanders and you drivers.
Please accept on behalf of the Battalion my grateful thanks and , if similar operations are in store for us in the future, may we continue a partnership so happy begun.
In the meantime, Good Luck to A Squadron

Signed Commanding Officer 8th Battalion Royal Scots

Major Hunt Commanded A Squadron and Major Holloway Commanded C Squadron in the 49th RTR.
