Iso Grifo by Matchbox

The Grifo we all drove..............................................................

There are many Matchbox Grifo's. Production started in the late sixties and they made them more than twenty years. Because there are so many versions I made this special Matchbox page. Most Grifo's by Matchbox were blue in all shades, even metallic. The ones they produced during the eighties had all kinds of colors and decals. Unlike the early ones which are extremely beautiful and well detailed these Asian cars are rather crude and ugly. A good example, mint - boxed can be very expensive! I've seen prices of $45 and more. For the car alone expect to pay $5 > $20. Asian Matchbox mint/boxed $8 > 10 |

Matchbox used to change little things to the cars like other wheels, color and interior. They also changed the boxes. These are some examples of the boxes used for the Grifo. "Racing suspension & High Speed Mag. Wheels" (Collection Hans Krahenbuhl) |

This picture shows you
some very rare Matchbox factory prototypes for the Iso
Grifo model. I would like to have more information about
these cars. The
production model. |
| On the left side boxes with their cars and a very rare Grifo with "racing" decals. The car & box on the right are quite rare as well. The combination of dark blue body with these wheels is not easy to find. |

Matchbox also sold the Grifo's in these transparent boxes which are not as beautiful and desireable. Some mistakes were made during production as can be seen here. I also saw a Grifo with black wheels, collectors items? The ones on the right are from the eigthies, made in the far east. These came in many colors. |
