| Butch told me he uses Lightwave 3D to make a model and it takes him about 20 hours per car. A study about each model is made before he starts the drawing. He needs a blueprint, numeric data and photos of both interior and exterior. |

I make the cars for Need for Speed: High Stakes / Road Challenge cars are for PC (NFS HS/RC). There's a Ferrari 550 Maranello on the box. My cars don't work with NFS, NFS2, NFS Hot Pursuit, nor NFS Porsche Unleashed / 2000. This game is more "arcade" than accurate simulation. |
Users manual for NFS - HS & RC
| This is a short user's manual. To play with it you need a PC with 300 Mhz or more and a good 3D video board (Geforce, radeon, ... ) and Windows 98. If the "autorun" is disactived on your computer, setup.exe will run the installation. When the setup is complete, you will find a : .../electronic arts/need for speed/datas/cars/... folder with few sub-directory. These sub-directory have four letters (Ldia for lamborghini diablo, Ccor for chevrolet corvette .... etc). If you want to had my cars, you must create a four letters directory (you will find the four letter name in readme.txt), and copy car.viv in this directory. That's all for the car. The QFS-file is a picture. If you copy the ****.qfs in .../electronic arts/need for speed/datas/FeArt/VidWall, you will see this picture behind the car you choose for the next race in the game. I don't know if it works with Win ME, and there is a hazardous way to make it work with Win 2000 (see the forums). NFS HS/RC accepts only 50 cars. Each cars owns a serial number. We can't use two cars with the same serial number, but we can change the serial numbers with NFS Wizard. Sometimes you'll have to erase a standard car to put in a new car. (For instance Aston Martin DB4 Zagato will take the place of the bonus camaro, so you'll have to erase Bcam folder). Everything will be written in Readme.txt. The best way to play with NFS is the Wheel (microsoft, saitek or thrustmaster ). Joystick isn't very useful, I think. The game is very playable with the keyboard. I think the best way to start is the small roadster (B category) if you start with fastest cars (AAA category) you will eat the grass - Regards Butch (France) |
