The Utrecht-Oslo project came into being because the ROM-galleri, an exhibitionspace for architecture in Oslo approached us for an exhibition. The exhibition showed an overview of the work of the participants: Wolf Brinkman, Rene Veenhuizen, Rody Graumans en Jeroen Hoogstraten. The exhibition lasted three weeks of which the first week showed the arranging of the exhibition. We saw this exhibition as an opportunity to continue working during the three weeks so we designed a mobile workplace; a square red table with four handgrips and four folding chairs containing space for pen and paper. Unfortunately, a few days before departure circumstances prevented Rody from coming along.
The first week was a travelling week to Oslo during wich we stopped as often as possible to design “in the field”. The sketches were faxed to the gallery dayly and displayed in the exhibitionspace. During the second week we lived and worked in the gallery and visitors had the opportunity to join in. The third week we took our table into town to work in the streets of Oslo and react to the surroundings and passers by. In the evenings the sketches were put up alongside the work of the first two weeks. |
