Galle

The lighthouse you can find in the Fort, surrounded by high fortress wall, which was built by the Dutch in 1640.
Many of the buildings in the Fort still remind on the more than 150 years of Dutch rule.
In one of the oldest Portuguese/Dutch Mansions in Galle (abt. middle 18th century) you can find a museum, where you can see besides the ancient items from pre-Portuguese period to British Colonial Period, (such as coins, pottery, weapons, porcelains) gem cutting and polishing.
