Collecting British WW2 airborne militaria

The parachutists kneepads.
The knee pads are made of a knitted sleeve, with khaki serge covered padding to the front. A leather lace was passed through 10 loops to close them. They were issued in different sizes: small, medium and large.
Knee pads were issued for training purposes and designed to be worn under the trousers, but were found to be very unpopular.

Wartime manufacturers: Elmont.
Wartime variations: Early examples were entirely made from brown leather with riveted leather straps. Australian made examples have padding covered in khaki cotton and have 9 loops.
Postwar modifications: Unknown.
