Rank chevrons Rank chevrons used by airborne troops were of standard Army pattern.The lowest rank held by members of the Glider Pilot Regiment was sergeant. On the Denison smock and the gabardine jump smock chevrons were worn only on the right arm. The battle dress rank stars and crowns for officers had a Cambridge blue backing, otherwise they were identical to the Army pattern. Officially introduced by ACI 905, 12 June 1943.
