An introduction to teisi, with implications for braidings

Sjoerd Crans, Macquarie Mathematics Colloquium 17 August 1998

Mathematical structures are not always what they seem. This talk features several examples of this phenomenon, such as abelian groups, centers, braidings, and Yang-Baxter. All these examples arise from the speaker's new approach to higher-dimensional category theory, based on teisi (which is Welsh for stacks).

The slides of this talk are available as a ps-file.
