Aislinn was cleaning up the house after her birthday party, which she had held yesterday. It was hot, nearly summer. She looked around and took in the mess. A broken beer bottle, glasses under the couch and table, a plate in a flowerpot… Aislinn was the youngest of all her friends, seventeen, and it was the first time she had given a party. She sighed; she had to clean it all by herself. Her parents only agreed to the party if it was on a Friday night and if she was going to clean up any mess. Her parents always went away Friday night and came back Sunday afternoon. Her parents were quite wealthy and every weekend they went to their second house.

She thought of one of the agreements, ‘Ok, we won’t mind any alcohol, but if someone pukes, you clean it!’ She sighed again and looked at a dried up puddle next to the backdoor. She walked into the kitchen to get all the needed cleaning items. She searched for a bucket and found one on top of the fridge. She shook her head as she tried to get it off. ‘Next time, I’m going to parties instead of hosting them.’ And she dumped the bucket into the sink, were she filled it with water and soap. While searching for clean cloths she found plastic gloves. She looked at them and thought of the mess near the backdoor. She grunted and pulled them on. She pulled the bucket out the sink, which was a bit too full, making it top heavy. She started to clean the whole house, starting with the living room. She washed, vacuumed, cleaned the windows…

When the entire first floor was cleaned it was already 5.15 PM . She still had the garden and the second floor to clean and if she was lucky she didn’t have to do the attic and the basement. Aislinn decided to take a rest, if she couldn’t finish it all today, she still had till tomorrow noon . She dropped the mop she was currently holding and took the gloves off. She walked to the kitchen and threw them away. Looking at the fridge, she thought it was well deserved to have a cool drink.

While sipping on the cold soda she walked around the house. She heard the birds sing outside and she smiled as she walked to the window. The sky was blue and flowers bloomed. She smiled ‘Only one more week and then... Summer vacation!’ She screamed the last part out in joy. At points like this she was happy she lived in a large house, where the neighbours are two kilometres away from each other. She looked up at the high hills and she was glad she lived in Ireland . Her family immigrated to Ireland long ago, with roots going from French to Norwegian blood.

She looked at her reflection in the glass; her long, dark red hair was tied in a ponytail. The ribbon she had used to tie her hair up was already hanging loosely on her shoulder. Her eyes were dark brown with green and they turned large when she saw something sticking out of the bushes. She quickly put away the empty glass and ran outside. Once closer she saw it was a leg. She recognised the shoes immediately. They were blue with red dots and the socks were green with white stripes. She looked up and saw the orange skirt and yellow with purple shirt of her friend. Aislinn looked at her confused ‘Didn’t they all go home last night… Or this morning?’ she thought. Next to her friend was an empty beer bottle and she turned around, ending up on the bottle. The girl groaned and moved again. Aislinn had to laugh at the funny faces she was making and this made her wake up. It took about five minutes before the girl had cleaned her eyes and could talk normal again. Aislinn helped her up. ‘What do you think you’re doing?’ she asked, while moving the black hair out of her eyes. ‘I’m taking you inside for a glass of water, which I think you need very hard, Emily.’ The girls walked towards the house and just as they were about to enter through the backdoor, Emily threw up. ‘O, God not again…’ Aislinn thought as the smell of vomit reached her nose.

After throwing up Emily felt much better. Aislinn helped her to the living room and then she got a glass of water for her. Sitting down next to Emily, she asked: ‘Now tell me, why weren’t you at home?’ Emily was drinking the water while talking between gulps. ‘I did go home last night; I just didn’t make it out of your backyard.’ Emily smiled sour. ‘Guess I shouldn’t have taken that last bottle of beer…’ Aislinn nodded.

They talked about the party and other things for an hour and Emily decided to stay for dinner. Her parents also called, they were very concerned. They were easily at rest though, when they heard she stayed the night with Aislinn, they both didn’t mention it was in the backyard. Emily and Aislinn cleaned the rest of the house together, which, surprisingly, went very fast and at 1.00AM the house and the garden were spotless. Emily, now completely sober, asked Aislinn if she could stay the night again, only this time in a bed. Aislinn smiled, ‘Sure you can, Em.’

After a midnight snack, a shower and some TV the girls went to bed. The guestroom was next to Aislinn and was, just like all the other rooms, quite spacious. Aislinn’s room was very cosy and colourful. The ceiling was light blue with dark blue stars, the walls were light purple with light blue wipes and the plush carpet was light green with blue wipes. The two curtains had different colours, one is light pink with purple butterflies and one is light green with blue butterflies. In one corner of the room she had a large rainbow coloured beanbag. Her dad always kept asking if she didn’t think her room was too childish, but she loved all the colour. She even has a large model of raindrops, made of glass crystal, hanging in front of her window. The little crystal raindrops create rainbows as the sun hits them. She also has a flower with a hummingbird of the same crystal on her desk. Aislinn looked proudly at her room. Emily wanted a room just like her with even more colours, but her parents disagreed with a multi-coloured bedroom; so her room is just yellow with green. Her little sister though, was allowed to paint the walls herself, which resulted in multi-colour uneven rainbows and colour blazes. So, off course, Emily was angry and she got her parents so far to let her paint the walls again; and in the summer holidays Aislinn and Emily are going to paint it in the brightest colours.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ Chapter 2 ~ Dreams ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

A scream bolted through the night. Blankets were thrown aside. Aislinn’s black cat, Luna, ran around the house as if hit by lightning. Emily knocked on Aislinn’s jammed door. ‘Aislinn?! What’s wrong?’ she yelled while trying to open the door. ‘What’s wrong with the door?’ Aislinn screamed again. Emily started to panic and she threw herself against the door. After the third strike the door gave in and Emily stumbled inside.

Aislinn fell asleep the moment she touched the bed. It didn’t take long before she was dreaming. She was running down a hallway, she didn’t see who was chasing her, but somehow she knew that something bad would happen if she stopped running. The hallway was empty and silent, her footsteps echoed and she noticed a hole in the ceiling. Gracefully, she lifted herself up and crawled through the small passage. She now heard weird noises behind her and she started to panic. Crawling faster she saw the passage went down and she slid down headfirst and landed on a pile of laundry. She looked around and the small room was filled with laundry. She searched for the door and saw it. The laundry covered half of the door and she tried to open it, but the door opened towards her. The huge amount of laundry made it impossible to open it.

When she heard something land behind her she let out a surprised scream. She turned around and looked into dark blue eyes, surrounded by blue skin. The face smiled and showed sharp teeth. Still focused on the sharp teeth and blue skin, the creature pushed her to the ground and the laundry seemed to grab her. She screamed when the creature sat down on her stomach and the laundry tightened around her. The creature revealed blue wings and although soothed by the beauty of them, she screamed her longs out when the creature got out a black blade. The blade was long and sharp, with a dark blue gem embedded in it. Aislinn struggled for her life, but the creature was too heavy and she was bound by the laundry. The creature moved the blade closer and closer to her face and while she was screaming and struggling, she suddenly heard her name being called far away.

‘Aislinn! Aislinn!’ Emily shook Aislinn by her shoulders. She was still screaming. ‘Wake up!’ Suddenly Aislinn opened her eyes and she started to cry. Emily helped her up and Aislinn hugged her and wept on her shoulder. After a few minutes she stopped crying. ‘What happened?’ Emily asked. ‘Bad dream… It looked so real…’ Aislinn muttered. Emily asked what it was about. Aislinn stayed silent for a few seconds. ‘Well? You can tell me.’ Aislinn sighed and started to tell her dream.

Emily was silent for a moment. ‘Wow, freaky. It sounds terrifying…’ She touched her friends face. ‘Why did that thing want to hurt you?’ Aislinn shrugged. ‘How would I know…’ She touched her face where the blade landed just before she woke up.

The next morning the two friends drank some tea and ate some toast. They both didn’t say much. Aislinn hadn’t slept since the nightmare, which was around 4 AM . The blue face and it’s sharp teeth kept haunting her. She was very tired, so Emily left at 2 PM leaving Aislinn by herself. Her parents called an hour later, they were stuck in traffic and said that coming home after midnight was very likely. They would stop at a road restaurant for some dinner and then call her again.

Aislinn walked to the kitchen, it’s dinnertime and her parents just called her again. Her mom suggested preparing a pizza or making some soup. Not in the mood for cooking, she chose the pizza. She walked over to the fridge and opened the door. After scanning the contents, she found the pizza behind a melon and leftover spinach. Yawning, she unwrapped the pizza and puts it in the oven. After setting the temperature and time, the oven started to work. Walking to the fridge again, she searched for a drink. She sees one can of Dr. Pepper and grabs it. Pouring herself a glass of the bubbly fluid, she turned on the TV.

She watched the news, ‘War here, fighting there, accident next door, blablabla. News is always so depressing.’ she thought while standing up when the ‘ting’ of the oven was heard. Once back on the sofa with a steaming pizza, she searched the tv-guide for a movie. ‘A horror, just what I want.’ She said to herself. She searched for the right channel and started to eat he pizza, while the screen filled with blood and corpses.

The pizza was finished. She puts the plate on the table. She lies down. The movie got dull. She got tired. She closed her eyes during the commercials. She didn’t open them when the movie started again. She fell asleep. She dreamed again…

She stood still. ‘It’s the same hallway…’ She thought. She turned around. In the distance a weird noise was approaching. She pulled a face and turned around again. She knew she had to run, but were too? The sound got louder and she figured she could worry about were to go while running. She took a few different ways and then there it was… She came to a full stop and looked at the hole. The hallway was a dead end. She figured that now she knew, that she had to move the laundry. She climbed up, crawled and landed softly. She tried not to get scared and she started to move the laundry. She turned around a few times to look at the hole. Then she saw it, an iron door! She quickly stood up and closed it. The iron bars were close together, the creature would get, if lucky, one finger through it. She was busy with the lock when she heard breathing above her. ‘It’s coming!’ she thought. Trying even harder to close the lock, she panicked. A click was heard from the lock and only a few seconds later a ‘thoink’ from behind the door, followed by cursing. She panted as she took a step back. Dark blue eyes met hers. It moved and tried to open the door. It started to scream at her in a weird language.

Aislinn sat down on the laundry and tried not to panic. She knew the creature was stuck, the passage was too tight to turn.

She looked up when it suddenly went silent. Thinking she was safe, she stood up again and walked towards the passage. She looked up and a pair of dark blue eyes glanced back. ‘What are you?’ she asked without her voice trembling. The creature showed it’s teeth and shook the door. Scared, she took a step back. Suddenly the creature spoke perfect English, which amazed Aislinn. ‘I would say you’re worst nightmare, but that line is a bit overused don’t you think?’ She stared at the creature. ‘I’m not a ‘what’ by the way. My name is Titanio and if you haven’t noticed yet, I’m not human. I’m a high level demon.’ He grinned when he said that last part. Aislinn was still silenced by the demons little introduction. ‘Now how about you open that door? I’m in a rather uncomfortable position.’ Aislinn took another step back and started to shake her head. ‘Ok then, I’ll just do it myself.’ Aislinn looked paralyzed as she saw that he had the same blade. He brought it towards the door and started to cut through the many, yet not very thick, iron bars. Suddenly she woke up and realised what was happening. She quickly decided that the door was her only way out. She struggled towards it through the laundry and started to clear the door. She could hear the demon laughing at the background and the paralyzing sound of the blade against the iron bars.

She finally saw the blue and black tiles of the floor. She stood up and had the door handle in her hand, when she noticed the sound of the blade against iron was replaced by breathing in her neck. Her eyes went wide and the hairs all over her body stood up. ‘Now didn’t I ask you nicely to open the door?’ Titanio said. Aislinn felt paralysed. The demon placed one hand around her waist and his head next to hers. Titanio breathed heavily in her ear and with his other hand he held the blade in front of her face. Just as the demon made the first sound of a word, Aislinn felt two other hands on her shoulders...

She opened her eyes to meet those of her mother, behind her was her father. She breathed heavily and it took all her energy not to show how scared she was. ‘Did you wait for us, dear?’ her mom said sweetly. Aislinn just nodded. ‘…Yeah… Sort of… I must have fallen asleep during this movie…’ she looked at the TV, it was turned off. ‘I just turned it off, it’s after midnight and there was only... junk on.’ Her dad said. Her mom looked at him suspiciously and he smiled back like a donkey. ‘Anyway, you should get to bed. You have school tomorrow.’ Her mom said, turning back to her daughter.

After brushing her teeth and going to the toilet, Aislinn said goodnight to her parents. She walked up to her room and turned on the lights. She looked at her blue walls a bit frightened. ‘Great, now I’m going to hate the colour blue…’ she said softly. She closed her curtains, undressed, turned on the light next to her bed, turned off the main light and finally slipped under the covers. She set her clock, turned off the light and thought about the nightmare.

‘How can I have two of the same dreams, in two nights? Well they weren’t the same, but they were about the same thing. What did he say again? He was a higher-level demon? Ow, and his name is Titanio… Stupid name by the way. And I don’t believe in demons. But what’s up with that blade? And all that laundry… And why did I end up in front of that passage, even though I took another route?’ Her head was filled with more questions than answers. Finally, even though a bit scared, she fell asleep again.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ Chapter 3 ~ Introducing ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

‘Oh no, not again...’ Aislinn thought as she found herself in the same hallway again. She thought for a few seconds. ‘Ok, idea…’ she said smiling. She started to run, found the hole fast and climbed in. Once in she locked the door and immediately started to dig out the door. She was almost done, when she heard the harsh landing of Titanio against the door. She could hear him sign and then he started to speak, ‘Guess I will get the same answer as last time, when I asked you to let me in.’ Aislinn just went on, but answered with a simple ‘Ahuh.’ She had no more place for fear, she just wanted to escape this dream. There was however, a new question in the back of her mind, how did he know what happened last time?

She wondered what was behind the door, when she heard the eerie noise of the blade again. She shivered, but then she saw the floor. She grinned as she had enough space to open the door. She opened the door and turned around when she heard Titanio calling her by her name. She froze when she heard it, ‘When did I tell him that?’ raced through her mind. She looked at his blue eyes, he was halfway through the door. She smiled and waved. She turned around and under much screaming and cursing she closed the door. She looked at the door, just as she had hoped. She saw a lock on the side and locked the door. She let herself slide against the door and she starts to breathe slowly.

She was suddenly woken from her trance, when the door got knocked on violently. She feels a slight breeze inches from her head. She turns around and sees the black blade sticking through the door. She lets out a scream and the blade pulls back, just to sink into the wood again. She doesn’t hesitate and starts to look around, ‘A one-way hallway… Not much choice.’ She jumpstarts her engine and races through the hall. She takes a sharp left turn and then a right. This hallway is quite long and she sees many doors on both sides. She runs to the end and takes a right turn, only to come to a full stop. She looks at the roadblock she stopped for and her eyes turn wide. ‘That’s… Another demon?’ she thought in shock as she looked at the creature in front of her.

It was entirely black and she was immediately drawn to the demons two black horns. They were long and curled back; the end stuck out of the curl and had a sharp spike. She looked the demon up and down. It had no ears and it’s face looked even weirder because the creature had almost no chin. The eyes were fiery red and were piercing through her. She quickly skipped the face and saw that the creature was only wearing old black pants, hold up by a black rope. Its chest, instead of having two breastplates like a normal human would, was made of one plate. It slowly raze and sunk again and she could see something move behind the creature. It’s long black tail was swinging from left to right. The tail ended in a black spike and the tip seemed to be glowing. It had only three toes and they had long, sharp black nails which curled down. The back of the heel had a large black spike. She looked up again and noticed the same sharp black spikes were on his knees and elbows. On the knuckles of his hands were blunt black spikes. The creature started to walk around Aislinn and she could now see that his spine had a whole line of blunt and small sharp spikes.

Before she knew what happened, she was squished against the wall. The demon’s skin felt like leather and was very cold. It’s hard chest was pressing all the air out of her longs. It moved closer to her face and whispered something she couldn’t understand. Suddenly she lay on the floor and was gasping for air. The creature was sitting on her stomach and it’s tail was moving from left to right fast. ‘What do you want?’ Aislinn asked as she tried to struggle away and get air. It just smiled as a response. She could see it also had small sharp teeth, but there were three rows of them. A shill went through her spine as a response. The creature moved towards her face and whispered again, but this time she heard what it said. ‘You’re all mine now.’ It said with a monotone voice. She blinked a few times and when she wanted to ask what it meant by that, she screamed instead. The tail with its sharp black pin had stabbed her leg. She looked at it in horror. The pin pulled out and its tip was red. She looked back at her leg, which was bleeding.

She trembled when she felt a weird feeling going through her leg. It was coming from inside the wound. It was thumping trough her body, leaving it feeling cold and asleep. The creature grinned and said ‘You’re all mine.’ She tried to move when the creature moved its face towards hers, but she found that she couldn’t. ‘He… He fucking paralysed me!’ she screamed inside. At that moment she saw the creature’s long pointed black tong. She closed her eyes in disgust as it went over her neck.

‘SPIKE!’ She heard a familiar voice scream a few meters behind her. The creature lifted itself up a bit and grinned. ‘Titanio.’ It said in a calm, still monotone voice. ‘You’re too late, the girl is mine.’ Spike moved his hand through Aislinn’s hair. ‘You haven’t won yet, Spike’ Titanio said. Spike stood up and Aislinn welcomed the large amount of air that entered her longs. Still paralysed, she could only see a glimpse of black and blue in her eye corners. Suddenly a weird humming was heard. It got louder and louder and the two demons ran over two her and started to scream.

She woke up and looked around. She saw her clock and blinked a few times. Finally she realised it was her alarm and she turned it off. ‘Right… It’s Monday… I have to go to school…’ She thought while gazing at her clock. She shook her head as if to erase the memory of the nightmare. She threw the covers away and stumbled out of bed. ‘What the…’ She thought as she sat back on the bed. She started to massage her leg, which was sleeping. ‘It’s just sleeping, nothing more… Stupid nightmares… There going to make me go crazy…’ She thought.

The whole day she was silent and stared in front of her. She was lost within her thoughts and Emily looked worried at her. It was lunch break and Aislinn just sat there, staring at her sandwich. ‘It’s not going to bite…’ Emily said, trying to get a response of any kind. Aislinn just blinked and looked around her. She and her friends had taken over the staircase and they were all talking and laughing. Aislinn looked at them and let out a sign. She was feeling miserable and her leg still had a piercing tingling feeling whenever she touched it. The fact that she could still feel it made her scared. ‘What if the dreams become more real every time?’ This question was the one most haunting her mind.

‘Aislinn?’ She blinked her eyes when Emily’s face appeared in front of her own. ‘Huh? What’s wrong?’ she asked a bit confused. ‘You’ve been staring into the abyss the whole day; now tell me what’s the problem. And don’t deny it, because it’s so obvious that something’s wrong!’ Aislinn blinked a few times. ‘What do you mean? So I’ve been a bit quiet, that’s no crime.’ ‘There’s quiet and there’s quiet… It’s more like you’re hiding in yourself. You haven’t said much, I even think this is the longest conversation you had all day. And, of course, the fact that your face is like a white sheet.’ Aislinn blinked again. ‘I’m just very tired, haven’t slept good…’ Emily gave her a suspicious look. ‘More bad dreams?’ Aislinn grinned ‘You could say that…’ She dropped herself to the ground and shut her eyes. ‘And they’re becoming more realistic too… More details, more feelings, more everything.’ ‘Hey Aislinn, you ok?’ she heard the voice of another friend enter her ears and she signed ‘I’m ok, just sleepy.’ ‘Ok, just checking.’ The voice entered a conversation and she lost track of it. Emily started to speak again. ‘You trust me right? If there’s something wrong, you would tell me… Right?’ Aislinn smiled slightly. ‘I trust you Em, I’m just not going to tell the whole story here… I’ll tell you when were alone, ok?’ Emily smiled ‘Ok, but the moment were alone, you tell the whole story. I don’t care if it would involve alien invasions or werewolves.’ She laughed and Aislinn gave a forced chuckle, luckily Emily took it for real. Another friend caught the last part. ‘Alien invasions?’ She giggled. ‘Yeah, haven’t you heard yet? There stealing my socks.’ Aislinn said. ‘I bet they use it for fuel!’ Emily added and they laughed. Aislinn tried to blend in and it seemed only Emily noticed that something was wrong.

They ended the day with gymnastics and Aislinn was burned out. She got dressed fast and walked out of the dressing room. Emily caught up and they walked to the lockers. It didn’t take long before Emily made her talk. Once at the bicycles Emily knew the whole story and lost a bit of colour in her face. Aislinn told her every little detail and shocked Emily with the gory details of Spike’s tongue action.

‘Luna, move… Incoming crash-landing!’ Aislinn said as she threw away her schoolbag and made a dive at the couch. The cat looked sleepy at her owner as Aislinn landed half on the cat. The cat quickly found the energy and crawled away, making way for the rest of Aislinn’s body. Once on the ground she gave a frustrated meow and jumped back, trying to sleep on Aislinn’s back. Aislinn’s head was under three pillows and the cat was purring on her back, giving a free massage while doing so. The couple stayed like this for a few minutes, then Aislinn turned and the cat fell off. She was tired and grabbed a pillow; she didn’t want to open her eyes. The cat climbed back on and made a little sleeping nest of her own between Aislinn’s legs. This position was kept longer, much longer.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ Chapter 4 ~ Dream catcher ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

‘Honey, it’s dinner time…’ Aislinn opened her eyes and looked into those of her mom. ‘Had a rough day, dear?’ she asked nicely. Aislinn nodded and sat up. ‘Did I dream anything? Cant remember…’ she thought. ‘Ow! Is that pie? Do I smell apple pie?!’ Aislinn cheered out in joy. Her mother laughed. ‘Yes it is, but it’s dessert.’ Her mom said ‘Come, your dad is already at the table.’ ‘I’ll be right there.’ She stood up and noticed the muscles all over her body were acing. ‘I hate PE…’ She mumbled.

After dinner she made her homework and spent the rest of her time behind her pc. She searched on dreams on got fixated on the dream catcher. She found a ‘how-to-make-your-own’ site and printed the dream catcher page. She immediately began scavenging through the house for everything she needed. She even found a few feathers in the yard and after an hour she looked at the pile of things proudly. ‘Ok, and now the making of…’ She turned on her music and stayed in her room till nine.

‘Done!’ She smiled happily as she looked at the colourful wheel with the little feathers. There were some beads here and there; even an old cat bell didn’t escape the scavenging menace.

‘Just as I expected...’ Aislinn mumbles as she found herself in the now, so known hallway. ‘Let’s hope this dream catcher does something else, because it didn’t stop the dream.’ She started running down the hallway, jumped up the hole and landed in the laundry. Within seconds the shaft was locked and she was digging her way to the door. It seemed there was less laundry this time and just as she opened the door she heard Titanio land. She turned around and smiled. ‘Bye bye.’ She walked out and closed the door. She could still hear Titanio’s curses and she locked the door and started to run down the hallway. ‘O wait, fuck!’ she mumbled as she remembered the other demon. She stopped and looked around. ‘Sow many doors, I must get at least one of them to open...’ she mumbled as she started to throw herself at one of the locked doors. After the third throw she gave up and walked to another door. After the second strike she stops to catch her breath, which she didn’t get. Her heart skipped a beat as she saw Titanio coming her way. The hallway was long and he just came around the corner. He speeded up and suddenly he exposed his wings and came flying towards Aislinn. She snapped out of her shock and ran away as fast as she could. The sound of Titanio’s wings were almost paralysing her. She made as many turns as possible to slow the demon down, only to make a hard stop against Spike’s cold chest. ‘O fuck, I’m dead.’ Was all that went through Aislinn’s mind. Spike grinned as he looked in her eyes. He turned her around, so her back was against his chest. He moved his tail in front of her face. Aislinn eyed the pin until it was out of her sight and against her neck. At that moment Titanio came around the corner, half flying, half running. He stopped and eyed the couple. ‘She’s mine, Titanio. Leave.’ Titanio’s eyes seemed to turn darker and Aislinn hoped the two demons would fight so she could escape.

‘You might have her here, but you don’t have her in Dylix yet. If I leave now, you know I’ll get her before you do.’ ‘Who says I’m going to kill her now?’ Aislinn froze when she heard the word kill. Titanio grinned and looked at her. ‘Because, you did it the last time and you weren’t powerful enough yet.’ Aislinn’s mouth dropped, was that the reason why she didn’t remember anything of the last dream? ‘Well, let’s see if I’m strong enough now and I’ll race you to the Spawning Grounds.’ Titanio grinned and waved at Aislinn. ‘I will see you again in Dylix, sweetie.’ He then looked at Spike with a daring glare. ‘Do it now, this game is taking to long.’ Aislinn could hear Spike laughing and she started to struggle. She felt he was getting something out of his pants and then she saw what it was. Spike held a black kris in front of her face. ‘See you on the other side.’ Spike whispered in her ear. He raised the blade and Aislinn started to scream, but Spike didn’t even flinch for a second. The blade came down with extreme speed, with her heart as destination. She screamed and tried to struggle more, but his grip was too tight.

Suddenly there was a huge white light where the blade touched her skin. She could feel that Spike was being thrown of her and she heard both demons scream of surprise. There she was, on the ground now and blinking. ‘What the fuck just happened?!’ Titanio asked with some added cursing. Spike was screaming and cursing as he got back on his feet. Aislinn screamed when Titanio grabbed her and set down on her stomach. He got his blue-gemmed blade out fast and held it above her chest. Aislinn’s struggles were again without result. ‘You can’t do anything right, Spike. Just let me take her to Dylix.’ Aislinn could hear Spike cursing in the background, but her eyes were fixated on the blade. ‘Please don’t...’ she whispered, hoping the demon would have some sort of soft spot. ‘Don’t worry, you won’t really die.’ Titanio said grinning. He moved his face to hers and whispered: ‘Just your human form, you’ll wake up in our world, Dylix, as a demon.’ Before Aislinn could respond, Titanio lifted the blade again. It came down with tremendous speed and just as the blade touched her skin the white light emerged again. Titanio was blown away and came to stop against the wall. Spike laughed and Titanio cursed. ‘What the fuck is going on?! Why can’t we kill her?!’ Titanio was screaming now and he stood up. Aislinn was scared, because of the two demons being so pissed off. She screamed when she saw that Titanio was going to kick her in the side. Yet again, the white light saved her. ‘I’m so going to kill you!’ Titanio screamed as he got back on his feet again. ‘Cool down and think.’ Spike said as he stopped Titanio. ‘It seems we can’t kill her, let alone hurt her. Now there must me an explanation.’ Titanio grumbled and looked at the scared girl. ‘There’s only one thing powerful enough to stop what were doing. At least in a human’s power...’ Titanio said, catching his breath. ‘And that is...?’ Spike looked at him like he was still a rookie. ‘A dream catcher.’ grumbled Titanio. Both demons now looked at Aislinn. She smiled and stood up. ‘Great, you guys can’t hurt me.’ She started to laugh. ‘I think I’m going to go then.’ She giggled as she walked away, only to be stopped by two pair of hands on her shoulders. ‘We’ll find a way to destroy that dream catcher of yours.’ ‘Or another way to destroy your human body.’ Suddenly Spike grinned. ‘I already have another idea.’ He threw Aislinn on the ground and sat on her. ‘Titanio, get her arms.’ Aislinn started to panic. Spike’s hands suddenly went all over her body. Aislinn started to scream at him and tried to get her hands free. One of Spike’s hands was running over her cheek and the other through her hair. Suddenly he moved his hands to her neck and started to choke her. Aislinn gasped, only letting more air out then was getting in. ‘It’s working!’ Titanio screamed out. Aislinn’s vision was getting blurry and she started to see black spots and white stars. ‘O my god, she’s actually turning blue!’ Both demons started to laugh as they watched Aislinn die.

‘Whaaaaaaaa!’ Aislinn awoke screaming and gasping for breath. Both her feet were asleep and her left arm was too. She slowly realised that she was still alive because of her alarm clock. She picked it up, turned it off and kissed it. Then she started to kiss the dream catcher. She cried when she thought back and she looked at her chest. To her shock there were two red spots on it. After closer inspection, one of them even seemed to have been bleeding. ‘Oh god, oh god...’ she cried even harder now, realizing how close to death she had been. After a few minutes of being scared and crying away all her shock, she dried her eyes and took a few deep breaths. She got ready for school and was even able to eat some bread.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ Chapter 5 ~ Daydreaming ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

‘Aislinn! What happened to you? You look awful!’ Emily pulled her friend towards a quiet corner. ‘Em, what are you doing?’ ‘You’re going to tell me everything that’s going on, right now!’ ‘I’m fine, stop worrying about me… I just have some sleeping problems, noting you could help me with.’ Emily glared at her friend. ‘Try me.’ Aislinn signed. ‘You know, the nightmares…’ Aislinn felled the need to cry. ‘I don’t want to talk about it know, not here.’ Emily nodded. ‘I understand, how about after school?’ ‘That sounds good, thanks Em.’ Emily smiled and hugged her. ‘Now let’s see were we need to go, only five minutes till school starts.’ Emily said and she pulled Aislinn with her.

After a few periods Aislinn was worn out. The next period had been cancelled and the class had to stay in the lunchroom. Aislinn got bored and the tiredness was getting to her. ‘I think I’m going to take a little nap…’ she said to Emily. ‘Good idea, I’ll wake you if a teacher comes by.’ Aislinn mumbled something as she laid her head down on her arms and fell asleep.

‘Damn!’ Aislinn cursed as she was in the hallway again. She grumbled and sat down. ‘I’m not going to play this stupid little game anymore.’ She said out loud. After only a few seconds she was looking around nervously. The sound was getting closer and she realized it was the sound of wings. She stood up and looked around. All the time she just ran through this hallway, never noticing the door that was at her left hand. She grabbed the handle and opened the door. Taking a step back, her mouth dropped. Instead of a room, she opened a door to another world. The sky was dark blue and the grass looked a bit dried out. A little stream wasn’t transporting water, but something darker and steaming. The sound of wings reached her ear and she looked up again to see Titanio in full flight. His wings were breathtaking and the wind was playing with his short blue hair. The expression on his face changed from surprise to a devilish grin. Aislinn’s mind was racing, enter this new area to search for new options, or go back and run like hell. She chose the latter and slammed the door behind her, sprinted through the hall and crawled through the passage. She got an idea while sliding down and landing in the laundry. She grabbed arms full of it and stuffed it in the passage, she locked the door afterwards. She now had to make the decision: stay here and wait till Titanio got through, or open the door to face Spike? She heard Titanio crawling above her and a muted curse as he landed in the laundry. Aislinn thought the laundry would buy her enough time to wake up, but Titanio had removed all of it within ten seconds. ‘Thanks for the soft landing sweetie, but I’m still stuck here.’ He grinned at Aislinn as she immediately began to free the door. ‘Do I have to do it myself again then?’ He signed as he got his blade out again. At that moment a loud ‘boink’ was heard. Aislinn crawled away from the door as it got hit again. Slowly, the door opened, moving a lot of heavy laundry. Spike had opened the door far enough to look in. He grinned at the terrified Aislinn and then he looked up at Titanio, who had stopped cutting through the door. Spike pushed the door further open with some effort and squeezed inside. He grabbed Aislinn’s arm before she could protest and stung her in the shoulder. Aislinn was totally paralyzed within seconds and Spike dragged her out of the room. Meanwhile Titanio cursed, swore and started to cut through the door again. Spike dropped Aislinn outside and closed the door. When he picked her up again, Aislinn was able to make a little noise. Spike looked at her with surprise, ‘Hmm, the poison is wearing of faster then I thought…’ He walked a bit faster through the hallway and kicked in one of the doors. He walked in and laid Aislinn on the ground. He turned on the light and locked the door. He turned back to his captive and grinned. Aislinn was getting the feeling in her fingers back and started to move them. Spike ignored the gestures made and sat down on her stomach. Aislinn started to feel sick and Spike got his kris out. He started to cut her shirt open and Aislinn tried to move, but wasn’t ale to do so yet. Spike carefully placed the kris above her heart and waited. Aislinn muttered something as Spike moved the kris in a circle above her heart. Suddenly he started to put a bit of force on the kris, but the skin was still holding. He grinned and turned the kris a bit; the skin gave in and a few drops of blood started to flow from the wound. ‘No protection this time?’ he asked Aislinn. ‘Ow, but that must be because you’re not in your bedroom with your precious dream catcher…’ He smiled devilish and Aislinn tried to grab him with her now moveable hands. She muttered some more and Spike silenced her by almost touching her lips with his. He whispered, ‘Now be a good girl and die.’ He sat up straight again and raised the kris. Aislinn closed her eyes as she saw the kris coming down and she tried to scream as she felt the cool metal touch her skin once more.

Aislinn screamed hysterically as she woke up. Everyone was looking at her and Emily was trying to calm her down, but it had no effect. She struggled trying to get loose out of her friends grip and kept on screaming while tears flowed over her cheeks. Two other friends now came to help Emily hold the kicking Aislinn. It took a few minutes before she was tired and stopped struggling. She dropped to the ground were she remained silent, but she still cried and breathed heavily. She could hear the worried voices of everybody around her; she had drawn quite a crowd. Emily and the two friends sat down next to her, catching their breath. Emily looked in Aislinn’s eyes and then she looked up. She screamed something to the surrounding students. Sordes, one of her friends, touched her dark shirt. It was warm and wet. He said something to Emily and she touched the shirt too. She said something to the other friend, Damien, who stood up and ran away. Sordes and Emily stood up too and picked Aislinn up. They moved her to a quiet corner. Emily said something to Sordes, who then ran away too. Emily yelled something to the crowd, which was gradually falling apart.

Sordes was back fast, he had a bucket of water and a clean cloth. Only a few seconds later Damien came running back with the school nurse. She sat down next to Aislinn and took the bucket and the cloth from Sordes. She lifted Aislinn’s shirt a bit and Emily looked shocked. Her chest was covered with blood and had been dripping through her dark shirt, almost unnoticeable. She had stopped crying and her breathing was almost back to normal; she could finally understand what was going on. ‘I don’t think she lost much blood.’ The nurse said. She dipped the cloth in the bucket and cleaned Aislinn’s chest. ‘Do you have any idea were she got this wound?’ she cleaned the cloth and the water was turning red. ‘No, she was sleeping and suddenly woke up, screaming and kicking…’ ‘It’s not a very deep wound, but I wonder where she got it...’ The sound of dripping water and the smell of blood was making Aislinn sick. ‘Someone will have to call her parents. She’ll need a doctor too. You don’t just wake up with a cut like that; it needs to be checked on.’ Aislinn could feel the sting of the cut every time the cloth went over it. She knew were it came from and she was terrified.

‘I don’t know how you can wake up with something like this. It’s not very deep, but a few small arteries were cut. Looking at the wound, I would say it’s made by a knife. The thing I don’t understand is the fact you were sleeping and woke up with this cut.’ The doctor looked at Aislinn. ‘Do you have any idea on how you might have gotten this wound?’ Aislinn shook her head and thought, ‘I’m better of not telling about the dreams, or else I’m going to visit another kind of doctor...’ The doctor walked to a cabinet and searched for some bandages. ‘The cut doesn’t need to be stitched; I am going to disinfect it though, just to be sure. Also, it’s not a straight cut; it looks like the knife first cut horizontally and then turned vertically to enter deeper.’ He started to clean the wound again, only this time it stung more. Aislinn closed her eyes and bit her lip. The doctor put some disinfectant on the bandages, which now colored red. Aislinn eyed the bandages and started to bite her lip again as it touched her skin. It stung like hell and tears started to form in her eye corners. ‘’There, all done.’ The doctor made a hand gesture that she could come of the table. Aislinn stood a bit weak on her legs, not from blood loss, but from fear. Her mother stood up too; she had been sitting in the corner of the room the whole time. The doctor and her mother had a little chat while walking towards the door and they said thanks and goodbyes.

‘You’re staying home tomorrow, you need to rest.’ Aislinn’s mother handed her daughter a cup of tea. ‘I’ve never seen you so tired, is it because of the party?’ Aislinn took a sip of the hot tea. ‘I don’t know mom, it could be… It was a lot of work cleaning up the house, and I haven’t had a good night sleep since.’ ‘Then it’s settled. You’re going to bed early and tomorrow you’re staying home. Ow, and I don’t want any friends over, if you get bored just read a book.’ Aislinn nodded, she didn’t feel like having company so it was just fine. Her father gave her a kiss and stood up. ‘By the way, we won’t be home tomorrow. We have a business meeting in London ; we’re leaving round seven in the morning. I don’t know when we will be back yet, but it’s going to be Thursday afternoon at least.’

Time had past by slowly. It was a little past eight and her dad was saying she should get ready for bed. Aislinn said them goodnight and wished them a safe travel. After washing up and brushing her teeth she went to bed. She stared at the ceiling for almost half an hour, then she turned her view to the dream catcher. She thought of new possibilities and got an idea. ‘If the power of that thing can cross the border between reality and dreams, maybe something else can too…’ She stood up and turned on the lights. Looking around her room, she found the thing she was looking for. She walked to her desk and moved the junk that was on; this revealed a little piece of metal. She smiled when she picked the shiny letter opener up. The haft was shaped in the form of a sitting cat and the blade, which was seven inch long, had little fantasy engravings. She touched the tip, it wasn’t very sharp. Looking around again she found a pair of scissors. She sat down on the bed with the opener and the scissors and started to sharpen the opener with them.

When she was satisfied with the sharp point she laid the scissors away and got back to bed. She had taken the opener with her and was holding it like a teddy bear. She gave the dream catcher a last glimpse before she shut her eyes. ‘This better work…’ she thought before the shadows of sleep crawled over her and took her away.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ Chapter 6 ~ Slaying ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

She found herself on the ground again. She stood up quickly and searched the floor. Just as she had hoped; in the corner of the hallway lay the shiny letter opener. She ran towards it and grabbed it without stopping. While running she found the best way to hold the blade and jumped up the hole. She crawled fast and landed softly. She hesitated on closing the hatch, deciding what would be easier. The decision was made fast, as Titanio landed head first in the laundry. ‘I didn’t expect that.’ He whispered as he got up. ‘We almost had you last time.’ He said with a low voice as he slowly came to a straight pose. Aislinn hid the blade behind her back as she backed away from Titanio. He reacted fast and had Aislinn down on the floor within the blink of an eye. Titanio got comfortable on her stomach and searched for his blade. Aislinn’s hand with the blade lay hidden under a piece of laundry. The demon ripped her shirt and grinned when he saw the bandages. ‘It seems that we wounded you bad enough to get medical attention.’ He moved his face to her chest, ‘I can still smell the blood and soon there will be more of it.’ Aislinn freed her hand from the laundry and whispered, ‘There will be more indeed and I wonder…’ Her eyes seemed to glow, ‘Do you bleed blue too?’ Titanio looked surprised, his lips started to move, a sound passed them… Then a weird sound, one that Aislinn never heard before echoed through the room. She forced the blade to go deeper into the demons back and turned it.

Titanio’s eyes were filled with surprise and a weird sound came out of his throat. Aislinn pushed the demon off, but tried to keep the blade in. She looked at the blue demon, who was indeed bleeding blue. Titanio growled and Aislinn took out the blade as she made herself ready to strike again if he stood up. The demon’s blue skin was turning darker and his eyes were black. He crawled toward her with his blade in one hand; blue blood was coming out of his mouth and he spat some out. Aislinn took a few steps back, holding the blade ready to strike; a few drops of blue blood were dripping on the ground. Titanio increased his speed and grabbed Aislinn’s leg. Before she could strike at the demon, the demon had grabbed her hand. His grasp was so powerful that Aislinn’s muscles relaxed and dropped the blade. In turn Titanio lifted his blade and made a move on her. A white flash made an end to the attempt and the demon found himself against the wall. Aislinn grinned, she could never loose now. She picked the blade up and walked towards the wounded demon. Titanio was breathing heavily and Aislinn kicked him just under the ribs. The blow took away all the demons breath and he collapsed on the ground. He eyed Aislinn from this level and growled, ‘I’ll get you, maybe not now… But eventually you will be mine!’ Aislinn ignored the demons last words and stuck the blade deep into the dark blue skin. The black eyes were still staring at her and the growl went on. She took the blade out and stabbed again, this time in the neck. The blade went through easily, coming out on the other side. Titanio’s growl made place for a weird sound, as if he was drowning. Aislinn had to suppress the feeling to vomit. Titanio grabbed her leg and she didn’t mind. She took the blade out slowly, the blue blood was covering her hands. The demon seemed to tremble and she kicked it again, this time he landed on his back. Titanio’s breathing was haunting her; the deep, sharp breaths; the chocking and the gurgling sounds. She lifted the blade up once more, ready to go for the demons heart. Titanio grinned at her, his teeth blue of blood. He tried to say something, but the words were mutilated too much. Aislinn felt a chill go up her spine and she wanted to end this horror. As the blade sunk deeper into the demons chest, she saw the life leaving the black eyes. Another chill went through her spine and her stomach turned.

She swallowed as she took the blade out after giving it a final push and turn. She took a few steps back and fell down. She eyed the lifeless mess. Everything was covered in blue blood, the laundry, her body; even the walls got their share. She jumped up as she saw the dark blue skin change back to light blue. The black eyes, now staring at the ceiling, turned back to blue. Then the skin went lighter and turned white, the eyes followed. She took a few steps back as the body seemed to glow and then slowly faded away. Just when she realized the body was gone, probably back to the demon world, she breathed out.

A hard ‘boink’ against the door woke her up from the trance state she was in. Quickly she realized she was only half done. She looked at were the body had been and saw Titanio’s blade. Now armed with two blades she stood ready behind the door. It didn’t took Spike long to get the door open enough to enter.

Once inside he didn’t noticed Aislinn, his eyes were fixated on the blue mess. ‘What the fuck happened here…’ she could hear him whisper. He took a step towards the bloodied wall and Aislinn saw her chance. She lifted the two blades and stuck them into the black, leathery skin. Instead of going in as smoothly as with Titanio, they now went in slowly and she had to push hard. Spike screamed as he tried to throw Aislinn of his back. Suddenly Aislinn felt a cold tip touching her neck, ‘Fuck, his tail!’ She released the demon, pulling the two blades out as she fell. She rolled away from him and got back in a fighting pose. The two blades were dripping of blood, one blade red and the other purple. Spike cursed as he looked at his attacker. ‘I would have never expected that.’ He said in monotone. Aislinn eyed his hand as it searched for the kris. Once the kris was found Spike charged at her. Not expecting a charge Aislinn’s only action was trying to evade. The kris touched her shoulder and the white light threw Spike away. While still in the middle of a growl, Aislinn had already moved herself to Spike’s side and got one blade into his side, just under the breastplate. Spike intercepted the other blade, which was going for his neck. He growled and moved his tail threatening. Aislinn felt strong and ignored the tail, instead she pushed the blade further in and the demon threw her off. She didn’t get to pull it out and sat on the ground with only Titanio’s blade in her hand. Spike pulled the blade out slowly under a lot of cursing and he threw the blade at Aislinn. The white light made it seem like the blade bounced off her. ‘Who do you think you are, trying to kill me?’ he growled. Aislinn grinned, ‘I killed your friend…’ She showed the demon her palms and pointed at the walls, ‘I thought he would have blue blood…’ She grimaced and Spike screamed something weird. He ran towards her and knocked her against the wall, for some reason the white light didn’t appear. Aislinn grinned and Spike’s mouth was a bit open in surprise. She turned the blade and the demon closed his eyes in pain. When he ran up to her, he speared himself to the blade, which entered his body just under the chest plate. The blade didn’t enter straight, but under an angle of forty-five degrees upwards. The pain on Spike’s face was replaced by a grin, ‘That dream catcher won’t make you invulnerable for ever.’ He moved his tail above his head; the tip of the black pin seemed to glow again. Now she could see why, a silvery colored fluid was reflecting the light. The pin landed between her neck and shoulder, the fluid was cold. Waiting for the pain of the penetration, she had her eyes half-closed. Instead the trusty light saved her once more.

Spike was thrown away with so much power, he smacked against the wall. Aislinn didn’t miss the chance and ran up to him. On the way she picked up his kris; her blade lay in a corner glimmering with blood. She landed on the demon, trying to trap it like both demons had always done with her. Spike was mumbling something and groaned. He reached for his head and Aislinn saw a little stream of red blood coming down his cheek. Her stomach turned again as she aimed the blades. The blade sunk down just above the chest plate and the kris was slowly penetrating the side of the demons neck. Spike trembled and let out a low sound which shook Aislinn. Spike tried to push the girl off, but he was losing strength fast. Aislinn tasted stomach acid and spat on the floor, her stomach was turning again and she was getting quite nauseous now. She pushed both blades in further and the demon grunted and started to twitch. The blade had entered the chest to the haft, but the kris was only two inches in. She swallowed as some acid came up again. The red blood stained her hands and the demons black chest glimmered in the light. She turned the blade and the demon trembled so heavy she fell off. She took a step back, only the blade’s haft was seen, red of blood. The kris was only half in, blood flowing from the wound and dripping on the ground. She saw Spike trying to lift his hand to the blade; it came from the ground and fell back. Spike made a few more attempts on reaching it, his breathing sharp and irregular. One hand made it to his chest, resting there. Spike coughed and blood sprayed, the wounds seemed to bleed more and Aislinn stomach took another turn. Aislinn couldn’t hold it anymore and she threw up. When she was done she wiped her mouth with a piece of laundry which wasn’t stained with blood. She looked at Spike and swallowed. He was a total mess and his breathing had become sharper; blood was coming out of his mouth and nose. His hand had found the blade and was trying to pull it out. Aislinn sat down, trying to reduce the headache that had replaced the upset stomach. She stood up when Spike had pulled the blade out a few inches. The headache raised in pain level for a few seconds, before returning to its former level. She walked on; Spike almost had the blade out. The smell of blood was making her sicker and her vision was getting blurry. A soft sound was heard as the blade landed on the laundry. Spike’s hand went up to the kris. As he started to pull it out, he screamed and cursed. His eyes were like balls of shadow, wishing death upon the slayer that was closing in. He spat blood with the demon curses and his tail was trying to make Aislinn feel threatened. She ignored it all, though. Closing in she had picked up her own blade and was holding it loosely. Spike, still trying to get the kris out, tried to move away from her. For now she seemed to glow darkness and her hair seemed static. Her eyes, once dark brown with green, were now turning black. Her skin seemed to get lighter and her dark red hair waved around her pale face. She lifted the blade, ‘This won’t be the end, it’s just the beginning…’ Spike said while blood was flowing from his mouth. She closed her eyes and trusted the blade into the black leathery skin. The blade entered just above the breastplate and the neck. She pushed it further as the demon made his last spasms. The demons eyes turned from fiery red to a dull black and Aislinn go off the blade. She saw the leathery skin turn dull and wither to a dark grey before it seemed to vaporize. A few seconds later all that was left of the battle were the three blades and the bloodstained on the walls, laundry and her hands. When she finally had the time to realize what she had done, she signed, crashed to the ground, cleaned her hands and screamed till her longs didn’t took anymore. She fell, curled up into a little ball and rested.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ Chapter 7 ~ Friend ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

Soft purring and sharp nails woke Aislinn.  ‘Well, a good morning to you too.’ She said still sleepy to Luna. The cat purred and smacked her tail into Aislinn’s face. She smiled as she pat the black cat. The smile faded fast though. She looked at her hands; they were covered with dark blood. She stepped out of bed and looked beneath the covers; there were some bloodstains. She sat back down on the bed to think. When her mind finally moved away all the shadows all she could think was, ‘They’re gone...’ And she stood up with a foolish smile. Like in a trance, she walked to the bathroom to clean her hands. When she looked into the mirror she saw her hair had some hard parts in it and her cheeks had a few black wipes. When her hands were clean, yet the sink was coloured, she walked back to her bedroom. She removed the sheets and covers and started to make her bed. Once done she shoved it all into the washing machine and turned it on. Her blade which lay on the floor was also coloured; she cleaned it and with it, the sink. With no sign left of the nightmare she turned back into the bathroom to take a shower.

Later that day she went on the computer. It didn’t take long before a chat screen went up.

Em       - He, you feeling better?

Aislinn - Kinda… Even though I had another nightmare, I woke up feeling great J

Em       - Maybe you should talk to a professional about these nightmares…

Aislinn - Nah, it’s ok… I don’t think I’ll be bothered by nightmares anymore.

Em       - Well, you could at least talk about them…

Aislinn  - Huh? What do you mean? I told you all about them…

Em       - I mean with… eh… Other friends

Aislinn  - …

Em       - I’m so sorry… But I kinda slipped a few things to someone…

Aislinn  - … To who? ….

Em       - Well, after the thing at school… Damien and Sordes helped right?

Aislinn  - Yea… So?

Em       - Well… They kept asking and I told them a bit about your nightmares…

Aislinn  - … And now they think I’m crazy right? That I need professional help…

Em       - Actually, Sordes acted kinda weird after it… He seemed to know things about those demons that I didn’t tell.

Ailinn   - What? Wow, now that would really be weird…

Em       - So, wouldn’t it be a good idea if you talked to Sordes?

Aislinn  - …Maybe… But he always seems so far away…

Em       - Maybe that’s because he has the same nightmares?

Aislinn - Can that be?

Em       - I don’t know… Just talk to him.

Aislinn  - … But you know… Remember what I told you a few weeks ago?

Em       - J I do. That’s another reason why I want you to talk to him.

Aislinn  - What? No, that’s mean. Don’t force me to… What if he doesn’t like me?

Em       - Hehe, don’t worry… I already talked to him J It’s ok.

*Sordes joined channel*

Sordes  - Eh… Hi? Why did you add me?

Em       - Well, didn’t you wanted to talk to Aislinn?

Aislinn  - …

Sordes  - Well, eh… Yes, I guess so…

Em       - Well that’s settled then. Bye-bye, I got to go now.

*Em leaves channel*

Aislinn  - Bye…

Sordes  - She left already…

Aislinn  - Ow… So, what did Emily tell you?

Sordes  - She told me about your dreams… How is your chest?

Aislinn  - It’s healing just fine, thanks.

Sordes  - You want to talk to me about your dreams? Maybe I can help…

Aislinn  - I don’t really think that would be necessary…

Sordes  - Please, tell me I know I can help.

Aislinn  - Didn’t Em tell you everything yet?

Sordes  - She told me everything you told her… But I know there’s more…

Aislinn  - How would you know? You never had my nightmares; you don’t know how I feel.

Sordes  - I don’t really want to talk about this over the net. Can I come over?

Aislinn  - Eh... I’m not supposed to have friends over today… But my parents are on a business trip so I guess they wouldn’t find out.

Sordes  - Great, I’ll be right there.

Aislinn  - Wait, you know where I live?

Sordes - Sure, I was at the party, remember?

Aislinn  - Ow sorry, I’m a little forgetful sometimes.

Sordes  - Ok, I’ll be right there. Bye.

Aislinn  - J

*Sordes left channel*

Aislinn smiled softly. ‘He’s coming to see me…’ The butterflies in her stomach were taking flight. Still smiling she turned the computer off. She has been in love with Sordes for a few months now, but she only told Emily a few weeks ago.

A few months ago Xander, another friend of the group, introduced Sordes. Sordes had just moved to town and he made a great first impression. Everyone seemed to get along with him and Aislinn had a crush from the start. Sordes was always being funny and active, but there was also something mysterious around him. The weirdest part was that he had no parents and lived all alone. He told them his aunt and uncle took care of his finances. Everyone was a bit shocked by this; it was every teenager’s dream to live entirely alone and to have someone sending you money. When they asked him what happened to his parents, he said it was something about a car crash when he was one year old. His aunt and uncle inherited a lot of money from his parents and they have been using it to take care of him. Now he was eighteen and they bought him a house as something of a birthday gift. He was joking about the fact that he needed to clean the house himself, cook diner and that his uncle was teaching him how to pay bills etc. While joking he looked at Aislinn a few times and she had to suppress blushing to much or looking away. She suddenly remembered that one time he had asked her to step away from the group to ask something. She tried to remember what he had said, but it was too long ago.

The doorbell woke Aislinn from her memory trip. She stood up; a bit nervous and feeling her cheeks glowing up. She opened the door and there he stood. He smiled slightly at her; he was wearing black trousers and a black t-shirt with tribals on it. His shoulder-long black hair was hanging loosely and some of it was covering his face, making him look even more mysterious. He turned his head slightly, ‘You going to let me in?’ Aislinn snapped out of her trance and gave Sordes a weird smile as she stepped out of the doorway. ‘How can a boy look so beautiful...’ she asked herself. Sordes walked around a bit, ‘Good clean-up... It was quite a mess when I left Friday.’ ‘Yeah, it took me the entire day, plus Emily’s help to clean it all.’ Sordes looked at her and smiled, she was getting uncomfortable, not knowing how to stand or where to put her hands. ‘You want something to drink?’ She asked, ‘Yeah sure; soda will be just fine, but if you got beer...’ Aislinn searched through the fridge and came out with two beers. Sordes found the opener on the top of the fridge and opened both bottles in a smooth move. They walked back the living room where they sat down on the couch. ‘Where are your old folks by the way?’ Aislinn took a sip from the beer, ‘There on a business trip to London, staying there overnight too. They’ll be back tomorrow night.’ Sordes moved a bit closer and Aislinn’s heart skipped a beat, only to go to a faster pace afterwards. ‘You know, you’re a really nice girl.’ Aislinn almost choked on the beer and Sordes had to help her. ‘I’m fine now, thanks.’ ‘Did I upset you?’ He asked as he looked into her eyes. They were blueish-grey and they seemed to pull her into the black hole in the middle. ‘No...’ she said softly. Sordes continued, ‘I really like you, Aislinn... The first day I saw you, I knew there was something special about you.’ He moved his hand to her cheek and she tilted her head so she could feel his warm hand on her skin. She closed her eyes in a moment of happiness and when she opened them they met his. ‘You’re so beautiful...’ He whispered in her ear. Aislinn swallowed, ‘So are you...’ She could feel the tension in her body rising as Sordes moved his other arm around her waist. His fingers were stroking her cheek and one of them was touching her lips. She closed her eyes again and signed softly as he pulled her closer. ‘I’ve been wanting to hold you like this ever since I saw you.’ He whispered in her ear again, but this time the whisper was followed by a warm breath in her neck. She trembled and the hairs all over her body stood up. Sordes backed up and smiled softly. Aislinn was thinking about Titanio and how he breathed in her neck with that blade in front of her face. She shook her head slightly, ‘Sorry... A bad memory...’ Sordes looked concerned, ‘One of the nightmares?’ Aislinn swallowed, ‘Yes... But I don’t want to talk about them right now...’ She moved an arm around his waist and her hand to his cheek. His skin was so soft and she moved closer to his face. Sordes moved his hand through her hair and he pulled her closer. Aislinn closed her eyes when their lips touched. His kiss was sweet and seemed to last forever. It didn’t take long or the kiss became a French one. They didn’t stop until the phone rang.

‘He Aislinn, get back on that pc and talk to Sordes. I’m going to call him now.’ ‘What are you talking about? Sordes is here, with me.’ ‘What? You invited him over? Sweet, how’s it going?’ ‘Well everything was fine until you called...’ ‘Ow, I get the message... Tell me everything later, ok? Have a nice evening.’ Emily giggled a bit. ‘I will and thanks.’ ‘Bye.’ ‘Bye.’

She smiled at Sordes as she placed the phone back in its holder. Sordes made gestures for her to go sit on his lap. She blushed as she sat down. Sordes’ arms went around her and pulled her closer into an intimate hug. They started to kiss again and Aislinn felt a new kind of happiness. She ended a French kiss and held Sordes’ cheek. She looked into his blueish-grey eyes. ‘I love you.’ She finally said it and a great weight seemed to be lifted from her shoulders when Sordes repeated those words. She smiled and kissed him. She could feel his hands going over her back and then searching for the end of her shirt. She trembled when his warm hands went over her bare back. Sordes stopped, ‘Never mind those.’ She said and she kissed him again. His hands started to move over her back again and she, too, was now searching for the end of his shirt. His back was warm and soft. She let go of him though, as soon as she felt he was mingling with the back of her bra. ‘Sorry...’ Sordes mumbled, he looked a bit ashamed. ‘Not too fast, sweety.’ Aislinn smiled and she kissed him again. She had moved her hands to his front and found herself playing with a nipple. The moment she became aware of it, she stopped and removed her hands from under his shirt. ‘I’m so sorry...’ She could feel her face starting to glow. He just smiled and held her closely, assuring her that it didn’t matter. Sordes pulled her even closer and she hugged him. She jumped back though. Sordes looked at her in surprise as she stood up and walked towards the kitchen. ‘What’s wrong?’ He asked. ‘Nothing, I just... I just got a bit scared that’s all.’ She thought of the hard bump that she had felt when he pulled her closer. She grinned, though. ‘Well, come here and help me make some diner. ’Sordes stood up and walked into the kitchen.  They started to search for food. Aislinn found two packs of instant spaghetti and started to prepare it. Sordes stood behind her and looked at her preparing the food. She smiled as she looked up to meet his eyes, only to be surprised by a kiss. She had to turn and finished the kiss. ‘The food will burn.’ She said and started to stir the brew. ‘Where are the plates?’ Sordes asked. Aislinn pointed at a cabinet and he opened it. After some struggling with all the plates, he came out with two of them.

They sat down to eat and Aislinn turned on the tv. While eating, Sordes asked her about her dreams. ‘Well, what do you want to know? Emily told you everything I think.’ ‘I would like to know how the demons looked and if you know their names...’ ‘Well, I’ve had dreams about two demons so far...’ ‘Go on.’ ‘The first one has dark blue eyes, blue skin… Even blue… Blood… He has sharp teeth and sometime she has wings… Blue wings, very beautiful and he has short blue hair. And every time he threatens me or even tries to kill me with this long black blade, with a dark blue gem embedded in it. He also said his name was Titanio and that he was a high level demon.’ Sordes seemed to look a bit frustrated, but nodded and made a gesture for her to go on. ‘Some times Titanio’s skin turns dark blue and his eyes turn black.  The other one is called Spike and I don’t know if they’re supposed to be rivals or friends. Spike has a black leathery skin and he has two horns on his head, they’re long and curl back. The end sticks out of the curl and has a sharp black spike. his face is very weird, because he barely has a chin. When he smiled I could see he had three rows of sharp teeth and he has a long and pointy black tongue. His eyes are fiery reed and he has a weird chest. You know humans have two breastplates? Well, he only had one and that looks so weird. It’s some sort of shield too… He also has a long tail which ends in a black spike. This tail, it has some kind of paralysing poison. He stabbed me a few times with the pin and I got totally paralysed. It seems to glow too, but that’s because the poison is silver coloured and reflects light, I think. I remember that he has three toes with sharp black nails which curled down. He has spikes everywhere. The back of his heels, knees and elbows have sharp spikes. On his knuckles are blunt spikes and on his spine there blunt and sharp spikes. Ow, and he uses a black kris.’ She was looking at her feet the entire time, now she looked up and she could bet Sordes looked pissed. ‘Don’t you have anything more to tell me?’ ‘Well, I was going crazy… I was scared to go to sleep, so I searched the internet… I found that dream catchers were used to help wend off nightmares so I tried it. I made one myself that very evening.’ ‘Did it help?’ ‘Sort of… I had a nightmare again, but when they tried to kill me a white light would emerge which protected me.  But that only seemed to help to fend off instant harm. Spike tried to choke me once and it worked. I woke up though, because of my alarm clock. My arms were sleeping though and I was so scared. Then off course I was really tired and I fell asleep during class. I had a nightmare then too, but this time there was no dream catcher. They almost got me then...’ She pointed at her chest. ‘Can I see it?’ Aislinn doubted, but lifted her shirt. The bandage was still covering the wound, ‘It ain’t stitched though... I wonder when I can take it off...’ She started to take it off a bit, just to peek. ‘It’s healing quite good I think, but I better leave it on.’ ‘No, you should take it off. It heals much faster that way.’ She eyed Sordes, ‘It gets to dry that way, it’s much better.’ She smiled and started to take it off. She bit her lip a bit as she tried to get the tape of her skin. Once it was off she pulled a face. ‘Ok, it’s indeed better to keep it off.’ She walked to the kitchen and threw the bandage away. Sordes smiled at her as she sat back down. He pulled her closer and gave her a long kiss. ‘Don’t you have more to tell?’ Aislinn looked into his eyes. ‘Like?’ ‘Like what happened in your dreams last night.’ Aislinn opened her mouth, but closed it after a second. ‘You can’t tell me your nightmares just stopped like that, especially after what happened at school.’ Aislinn looked at her hands, she was playing with her thumb and index finger. ‘Please, tell me what happened?’ Sordes insisted. Aislinn took a deep breath and started to tell him the Dream. ‘Well, I was getting sick and tired of those dreams and I realised that the dream catcher was protecting me. So I thought why can’t I take a weapon to protect myself? So I took my scissors and sharpened my letter opener. When I went to bed, I took it with me. And when I was in that hallway again, the letter opener lay in the corner. I picked it up and ran to the laundry room. I waited for Titanio... and when he came...’ She swallowed. Sordes hold her check, ‘It’s ok. Just tell me what happened.’ ‘I... I killed him. And it took so long... And when he lay there, dead, his body just vaporised.’ She swallowed and tried to hold back the tears as images of the blue blooded walls came back. She looked at Sordes and his expression was a bit freaky neutral. When he noticed her seeing this he changed it to concern. ‘What did you do after that?’ ‘I took his blade and waited for Spike. I was certain that if I would kill them, the dreams would stop.’ She swallowed again. ‘When he came in, he saw the mess... But he looked the other way and I got him. He too was hard to kill, his lasts words were: ‘This won’t be the end, it’s just the beginning...’ I still don’t get it. When he was died, he vaporised too. Ow, I almost forgot. The demons had talked about there world. It’s called Dylix and they were talking about something called the Spawning Grounds... They wanted to kill me and race to it or something...’ She looked at Sordes and his icy glare chilled her. ‘What’s wrong, sweetie?’ He shook his head, ‘I just don’t know what to say…’ Aislinn looked down, ‘You think I’m crazy, right?’ ‘No, not at all!’ Sordes responded and he pulled her close. ‘I believe every word you said.’ Aislinn thought for a few minutes. ‘He, wait… Emily told me you knew more of these demons then she told you. How?’ Sordes seemed to freeze up and he kept staring at the wall. Aislinn started to stare at him till he came out of it. ‘Sorry, what did you say?’ She gave him a weird look, ‘I asked you what you knew of these demons before I told you about them, before Emily did.’ Sordes looked into her eyes, ‘Can I please tell that tomorrow? I don’t feel like talking anymore now… At least not about that.’ She looked at him suspiciously. ‘Please?’ He said as he hold her cheek, ‘I’ll promise I’ll tell tomorrow.’ Aislinn turned her head and started to feel scared and sad. ‘I promise…’ She shook her head, ‘I know, but it’s not that.’ He touched her chin and moved her face to him, ‘What is it then?’ ‘I’m scared… Scared to go to sleep and find out if they’re still there or if I really killed them… I don’t even know which scares me the most.’ Sordes puller her into a kiss and hugged her. ‘If you want I can stay here… If it makes you feel safe…’ She looked into his eyes, ‘Please stay… I would feel safer indeed.’ She hugged him again and a tear slipped her eye.
