He left Bergen op Zoom end june 1946 to England and went on 23th or 25th of july 1946 to Batavia, Indonesia. He was there driver and lateron soldier orderly. On 18 february 1947, he met a Javanese woman but ditn't tell this to his mother till 2 february 1948. In a letter to his mother, dated 19 february 1948, he annaunced that she is pregnant. He asked permission to marry. In that letter he stated: Name : Ragiban, Saritie Born : 1 january 1927 te Medan Religion: Protestant Race : Javaanse Her father en mother where already deceased. She had a job by Chinese people, who where members of the Salvation Army. (Also he and his mother where during that time close connected to the Salvation Army.) |

In a letter, dated april 1st, 1948, he asked a power of attorney from his mother for permission to get married, it must be undersigned bij de lord mayor of municipality Scherpenzeel (Gld), his home belong. He mentioned in that letter that he need that power of attorney also to find a job. He mentioned also that they offered him a job in the Portland Cementfactory, near Padang, as assistent from a Ph. dokter. |

In a letter dated augustus 14, 1948 he annouced that he received a baby daughter: Name : Marie Marianna (roepnaam Marietje) Born : 5 juni 1948 In that letter he asked for excuses as he didn't write for two and a half month, he had to go to Palembang for service (punishment after his 1st desertion?). He writes further that the baby is a legitimate child and registered with his name. He hopes to be a civilian soon, as he works already on probation at that factory. He studied there and succeeded for medical officer and he obtained the following certificates: Ass. laboratory worker; Ass. operating-room; Concise Medic Assistance For Remote Locations and Hygiënist. |

His last known letter to his mother is dated oktober 24, 1949. In here he asked for forgiveness
as he was in a great trouble (2nd desertion?). Also that a letter with a full explanation should be followed. (Not in my receipt!) |

A letter from Ministry of War, Mauritskade 19, Den Haag, dated. 1 maart 1950, bureau 2 nr. 34061, announced that from the Head of the
Social Service at Batavia they received a telegram: Soldier G.J. Gerritsen, 271020001, has been deserted on december the 22th, 1949 for the secund time! |

Via the Institute for Social Welfare Care from the Ministry of Home Affairs, they tryed to let Mrs. Spoor, lady of the former General Spoor, do the investigation, which lead to no result. |

As our mother (Mrs. Marianna Pater-Speelman) deceased, no further actions where taken. However the wish to met him or his wife and/or doughter still going strong. He is, with an other brother and sister, from an earlyer marriage from our mother. His biologic father is also remarried and got an other son, Herman (see below).  This son, is the brother of my brother but not my brother!!!!! |

Dinsdag 16 februari 2000 was Bram in de TROS-studio in Hilversum. Hier werd een opname gemaakt voor het programma TROS-VERMIST. (Zie ook de link.) Er werd toen een zgn. ".MOV" gemaakt voor het internet, een bewegende oproep aan vermiste personen. Sinds vorig jaar was de oproep te zien op de site van de TROS (Klik op de foto.) |
