What began in old times as a mule track between two valleys has in some cases grown into to a near-highway to the skiing village around the top of the pass. Happily there still are enough quiet narrow roads to passes but there is a tendency to make passes more convenient for cars and widen the road or remove the bends. Things cyclists don't like at all.
But now it's time for some nostalgia. All the pictures are scans from local postal cards.
