CAR HOLDER EXAMPLE

After building a GPS IRDA converter it is time to mount the PDA and the converter into the car. But placing the IR-led in the car in sight of the PDA can be a problem. Also the PDA CAR HOLDER itself might be a problem to find. I'm currently using a home made car holder for the H1910 which is made out of wood. As you might see in the picture on the left top side a IR led is mounted which is directly facing the IRDA port on the H1910.

But the problem with this car holder is the it took me quite some time to build. Also wood in not the best material to use since the temperature and humidity has effect on how good the h1910 fits in the holder.

So I decided to make a IRDA car holder based on a Brodit car holder for the h1910/h1915. The pictures below show the result of that attempt.
I used a piece of 6mm copper pipe which I attached to the Brodit Car Holder using a piece of wood. A 5 mm IR led is mounted in to pipe. It all fits nicely. But it is probably better to use a 3mm infrared led.
